Salam, Mintoo, Rony collect forms for mayoral race

Mayor aspirant BNP leaders Abdul Awal Mintoo and Abdus Salam and former Awami League lawmaker Golam Maula Rony today collected nomination forms for contesting the upcoming Dhaka city corporation elections.

Abdus Salam, a former member secretary of BNP’s Dhaka city unit, and Golam Maula Rony collected the forms to contest the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls.

On the other hand, Abdul Awal Mintoo, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, will run in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) elections.

Elections to the DSCC, DNCC and Chittagong City Corporation are scheduled to be held simultaneously on April 28.

A total of 49 mayor aspirants in the Dhaka south and north city corporations have collected nomination forms so far.

For aspirants running for the city polls, the last date for submitting nomination papers for the position of mayors and councillors is March 29.
