Salahuddin’s condition ‘stable’
Doctors at a Shillong hospital, where senior BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed is undergoing treatment, today said his condition is stable but he will have to stay few more days at the hospital for some ‘minor complications’.
“After examining all the medical tests done on him since May 12, the medical board formed for his treatment has found his condition stable,” said Dr Vaskar Borgohain, acting medical superintendent of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (Neigrihms).
He added that the BNP leader will need two to three more days to recover completely.
The doctor said Salahuddin’s present complications include weight loss, urology related ailments and his previous cardiac problem.
Meghalaya police are waiting for medical clearance to produce him before a court in connection with a case filed against him for trespass.
The BNP leader was admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of the specialised health institute, as his condition deteriorated due to multiple health complications early yesterday.
Salahuddin was shifted to the specialised hospital on Wednesday evening following recommendations of a medical board of Shillong Civil Hospital.
The BNP leader was admitted to the civil hospital on May 11 after police found him loitering in “an unbalanced mental state” in Golf Link area of Shillong, the capital of Indian state of Meghalaya. They arrested him for trespass and took him to a mental hospital. The BNP leader was then shifted to the civil hospital.
