Law and order situation normal in Rajshahi: EC Shahadat
Hours after three crude bombs exploded at a Chhatra Dal rally in Rajshahi city, visiting Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury today said the law and order situation in Rajshahi is normal.
The EC was visiting Rajshahi to attend an official meeting ahead of Rajshahi City Corporation election to be held on July 30, reports our district correspondent.
There is no hint of possible violence during the upcoming city polls, the EC said while briefing journalists at the Divisional Commissioner's conference room in the city at 2:00pm after the meeting.

The election commissioner further said the candidates have been asked to employ polling agents and each candidate has been asked to submit the polling agent list to the Election Commission.
"Full effort will be given to hold the elections in a free and fair manner," the EC said.
Everything will be done to ensure transparency is maintained in the elections, he added.
Striking force of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be deployed in all the 30 wards in Rajshahi.
Thirty mobile courts will be present during the elections, and 10 teams under judicial magistrates will be there as well.
