No question of Hasina's resignation: Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today categorically ruled out the possibility of the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before the next parliament election.
"There is no instance in the democratic countries across the world where prime minister resigns during election. And thus, there is no question of the resignation," Quader said while talking to reporters in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir demanded dissolving of the current parliament and resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before holding of the next general election.
Brushing aside the demands, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said BNP will not be able to show any instance in this regard.
Sheikh Hasina-led government will assist the present Election Commission to hold the next general election in free and fair manner, Quader said adding that the concerned ministries will act under the guideline of the commission.
About BNP's participation in the election, the Awami League leader said it up to BNP whether it will take part in the election but it will be held at the right time according to the constitution.
"We will have nothing to do if BNP doesn’t join the election as it will not wait for none," he added.
Claiming that BNP is knocking at the doors of foreign people without garnering people's supports ahead of the upcoming general election, Quader called upon the party men to refrain from such practices tarnishing the country's image.
