Hunger strikers rally on DU campus

Students who were on hunger strike demanding re-election to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union brought out a rally on campus this afternoon.

The six students were accompanied by their supporters and other activists in the march that started from Raju Sculpture around 4:00pm.

Meanwhile, one of the hunger strikers – Shoyeb Mahmud – fell sick near the university’s Ruqayyah Hall while marching along with the procession.

He was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

At least 12 students were continuing their fast unto death till yesterday. Later, five Ruqayyah Hall students suspended their strike for a day.

The six students, who are on hunger strike since Monday demanding a re-election to Ducsu have remained unmoved. Two of them have been hospitalised so far.

But, the university authorities have turned a blind eye to them.
