Ershad’s condition unchanged, still not out of danger: GM Quader
The physical condition of ailing Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, who is undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, has remained unchanged, said his brother GM Quader today.
Ershad is still not out of danger, Quader, also the party’s acting chairman, said during a press briefing this noon.
The infections in the JP chief’s body are healing and his body is becoming stable, he said.
However, his liver functions are still not normal, and he is undergoing dialysis for removal of wastes from his blood, he also said, adding that Ershad’s body is being provided with the necessary components of blood through transfusion.
Quader also said that specialist doctors in Singapore are monitoring and advising on Ershad’s treatment at CMH. As per their advice, it is not safe to take Ershad abroad for treatment at this moment.
Expressing satisfaction over Ershad’s ongoing treatment, Quader said that CMH is providing world-class treatment to the former president.
Ershad would have been provided the same treatment if he was taken abroad, he also said.
He also called upon the countrymen to pray for speedy recovery of the former president.
Ershad has been undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of CMH since June 26.
On June 30, he was put on oxygen support and later on July 4 he was put on life support as his condition deteriorated.
He has been suffering from various health-related issues over the last nine months.
