BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that the 20-party alliance still remains intact.

Rizvi came up with the claim at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office today, a day after the presidents and general secretaries of National Awami Party (NAP) and National Democratic Party (NDP) announced to quit their ties with the 20-party alliance.

In support of his claim, Rizvi said only a few leaders left the alliance, but their parties are with the 20-party.

The NDP and NAP leaders quit the coalition in a bid to make their “personal gains”, he claimed, adding that NAP and NDP have already expelled those of their leaders who left the alliance from their parties as the two parties are with the alliance.

Yesterday, Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani and NDP Chairman Khandaker Golam Mortuza, at a press conference, announced to severe ties with the BNP-led 20-party alliance.

“As political components, we have tried to play our due role in materialising the decisions of the 20-party alliance. But, BNP has joined hands with the newly floated alliance keeping us in the dark,” Gani said at the yesterday’s press conference.

NAP Secretary General M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, NDP Chairman Khandaker Golam Murtaza and its Secretary General Manjur Hossain Esha, were also present at the press conference.
