BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia would be arrested and her Gulshan office searched once court orders reach police, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told parliament today.

"The moment the arrest warrant and search warrant will reach Gulshan Police Station, steps will be taken to arrest her and search her office," she said replying to supplementary questions from Awami League lawmakers AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MA Awal and Shafiqul Islam Shimul.

During the PM's question-answer session, Hasina, also the Leader of the House, said, "This is just a matter of time. The day is not far away."

The premier said Khaleda does not abide by law and has created a bad example by disobeying the court order.

"It is the duty of every citizen to surrender before the court when arrest warrant is issued. It is the established norms and rules across the globe that responsible citizens will comply with the court orders," she said.

The prime minister said law will take its own course and none is above it. "The orders came from the courts, the government and the law enforcement agencies will act as per that," she added.

Hasina, who also heads the ruling Awami League, said the political office of Khaleda should be searched urgently. "This is urgently needed because she is staying at her office leaving home. This is a mystery."

The leader of the house reiterated her firm commitment to bring all culprits who are responsible for killing people through arson attacks during the BNP-Jamaat's ongoing hartal and blockade.

Terming Khaleda a militant leader, the PM said, "It seems she wants to establish militant rule in the country, that’s why she is burning people and destroying their properties."
