Jukta Front’s demands illogical: Quader
Jukta Front’s demands of dissolving the parliament and reconstituting the Election Commission are illogical, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said today.
“The election will be held as per the constitution. It is only one and a half month away. And thus, such demands now irrelevant, illogical and unconstitutional,” Quader said, reports Prothom Alo.
He was speaking at a programme at the Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh while referring to Jukta Front’s five-point demands placed by AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and Dr Kamal Hossain yesterday.
The alliance also wants the polls-time government to be formed in consultation with all political parties. Also, they want to bar members of the election-time government from running in the election.
“What is our alternative? Our alternative means communal evil forces who unleashed repression and oppression from 2001 to 2006. No one can return to the black chapter,” Quader said.
About army deployment, Quader said: “The government will take the decision on the basis of requests made by the Election Commission.”
About reconstitution of the Election Commission, the Awami League leader said President Abdul Hamid has formed the Election Commission after holding talks with stakeholders.
“Even there is a BNP supported representative and it is working independently,” he added.
