‘Fantastic polls, EC satisfied’
Election Commission has claimed that the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) elections was held in a free, fair and festive manner, except some sort of irregularities.
"The Election Commission is satisfied as an excellent election was held," EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed shared the commission's post-polls reaction at its Agargaon office in Dhaka this evening.
Except the irregularities that took place at three centres out of 289, a fantastic election to the Khulna City Corporation was held in a festive atmosphere, the EC secretary said.
Responding to a query about the BNP's allegation of vote rigging, Helaluddin said the commission through its field level officials was maintaining close monitoring and found allegation of irregularities in some polling centres.
When asked about the impact of the KCC polls on the national election, the EC secretary said, "All eyes are on the Khulna elections. It’s a local body polls and the commission is satisfied over the voting so far."
The chief election commissioner and other commissioners came up with the remark at a meeting in this regard, he added.
