Fakhrul flown to Bangkok for treatment
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been flown to Bangkok for treatment.
A Biman Bangladesh flight, carrying the veteran politician, took off from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Thailand around 12:05pm today.
He will be checking in at Bumrungrad International Hospital, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of BNP chairperson’s media wing, told The Daily Star.
The BNP leader was released from jail on July 14 last year, six months after arrest. He had to endure long jail time in the prevailing double term of Awami League government.
After that, Fakhrul underwent rapid weight loss – losing almost 12 kilograms during his jail time. He has been in and out of treatment abroad since.
