BNP wants to help govt fight militancy
BNP today said the prime minister’s allegation implicating BNP-Jamaat to the “secret killings” is misleading and added that the party wants to help government combat militancy.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s allegations of BNP-Jamaat being linked to recent killings is a politically motivated statement, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.
“These allegations have been made to destroy the BNP and to mislead the international community,” Fakhrul said at a press briefing at BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan.
“The statements are misleading and provoking,” he added.
He, however, assured that “if the government wants, BNP will help the government fight militancy”.
The prime minister yesterday hinted that BNP-Jamaat men had links with the recent secret killings and the government had substantial evidence in this regard.
These two parties have changed their tactics and started attacking some “soft targets,” following public wrath for their arson attacks early last year, she added.
