BNP demands int’l probe into subversive acts
BNP today demanded an international probe to identify the miscreants who carried out subversive activities during the party’s three-month-long anti-government movement.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office today, BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon made the demand.
“The government is alleging the BNP of carrying out the arson attacks, while BNP is claiming that its party leaders and activists are not involved in the attacks. In this circumstance, we demand an international probe under the supervision of the United Nations to identify the true culprits.”
Ripon, also BNP's international affairs secretary, said, “BNP believes in democracy not in subversive activities.”
“If they [government] try to destroy the opposition or its top leaders without conducting an international investigation, it would yield negative impact on democracy,” Ripon warned.
Regarding the removal of Syed Ashraful Islam from the LGRD ministry, Ripon said, “This is an internal issue of the government. But the government should make it clear to the people why Syed Ashraf has been removed from his post.”
