BNP concerned over jailed leaders' health
BNP today expressed deep concern that several jailed BNP leaders are becoming critically sick due to repeated remands and lack of proper treatment.
“Our senior leaders, who are now in jail, are becoming severely sick as they are being taken on frequent remands,” Ashaduzzaman Ripon, international affairs secretary of BNP, made the allegation at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office this evening.
“Some BNP leaders are meeting tragic fate and some are becoming sick though they have been arrested in sound health,” he alleged.
The party also expressed grave concern as its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was taken back to Kahimpur jail from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University without arranging proper treatment for him.
“Alamgir was taken back to jail without giving him proper medication. We are worried over the matter,” Ripon said.
Several senior leaders of the party including Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman Dudu and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi are facing severe health complications due to lack of proper treatment in jail, he alleged.
“We call for government’s humanitarian behaviour towards the detained BNP leaders and their treatment at specialised hospitals,” Ripon said.
