Baseless, BNP’s Faruk says on anti-liberation allegations

BNP chairperson’s adviser Osman Faruk has denied allegations of anti-liberation role, terming those “totally false and baseless”.

The probe agency of the war crimes tribunal today spoke of Faruk’s involvement in anti-liberation activities while disclosing findings of war crimes evidence against some individuals.

“At this age of my life, nobody asked me about this. Nobody talked with me on this matter,” Faruk, a senior leader of the BNP, told The Daily Star over phone.

“It was the Bangabandhu government that allowed me to do the job in the World Bank after the Liberation War of 1971,” he said hours after the probe agency’s disclosure.

Earlier today, Sanaul Huq, co-coordinator of the agency, said some 11 individuals had taken stance against the Liberation War of 1971. “Former education minister and BNP leader Osman Faruk was one of them.”

BNP chairperson’s adviser Faruk, however, denied the allegations terming those “totally false and baseless”.
