The 17th session of the 10th parliament began this afternoon with the Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

The session is scheduled to continue till September 14.  

Before the house goes into session, the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee sat this afternoon to fix the duration and business of this session, sources at the secretariat said.

JS Speaker Shirin Sharmin presided over the meeting, also attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu and Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, among others.
