AL govt high-ups ordered attack on Fakhrul: BNP
BNP today alleged that yesterday’s attack on its party leaders including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was carried out following instructions from the high-ups of the Awami League-led government.
“We strongly believe that this heinous attack on BNP leaders was launched as per instructions of Awami League-led government’s high-ups,” Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed said at a press briefing today.

Bringing allegation that the government has resorted to terrorism, Rizvi said terrorists get motivated through the “provocation” by the most powerful persons of the state.
The briefing was organised at BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarters in Dhaka.
The motorcade of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came under attack, allegedly by Awami League men, yesterday when the BNP leader was going to visit the landslide victims in Rangamati.
At least seven BNP leaders, including the party secretary general, were hurt and five vehicles vandalised.
Terming the attack a “violent and aggressive step”, Rizvi claimed that it intends to destroy the very last entity of democracy in the country.
