Ashraf’s claim untrue: Rizvi

BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today termed “untrue” Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam’s statement that he did not get invitation to attend BNP’s national council held yesterday.

“I want to say politely that his claim is not true,” Rizvi said while addressing a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office this afternoon.

A BNP delegation handed over the invitations of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam to the party’s Dhanmondi office, said the BNP leader.

He said such a comment from a veteran politician like Syed Ashraful is ‘very sad’.

Earlier yesterday, responding to reporters’ query on why Awami League did not join BNP's sixth national council at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, Syed Ashraf said AL was not invited.
