Arrest warrant issued against Tarique, 2 others
A Narayanganj court today issued arrest warrants against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and two other leaders in a defamation case.
The court of Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Milton Hosen issued the arrest warrants for Tarique and United Kingdom BNP unit’s President Shayesta Chowdhury Kuddus, and its General Secretary Kayser M Ahmed.
Akram Hosen Badal, a member of central Awami League’s religious affairs sub-committee, filed the defamation case this afternoon, our correspondent reports quoting Abdul Hai, inspector of the court police.
According to the case, Tarique, elder son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, recently at a programme in London made “defamatory” comments about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the country’s constitution.
The court fixed December 10 for next hearing of the case.
