Police denial about Manna’s detention shocks BNP

BNP has expressed its astonishment as police denied picking up Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna.

“We are stunned that the law enforcers have denied picking up Manna,” Salahuddin Ahmed, joint secretary general of BNP, said in a press statement this afternoon.

A group of plainclothes men, introducing themselves as detectives, picked up Manna from his relative’s house at Banani early today but the authorities have denied it.

BNP expressed strong condemnation over the incident and demanded information regarding Manna’s whereabouts immediately.

“We want to get Manna back to his family immediately and demand punishment to the people behind the incident,” the statement added.
