Jamaat lawyer Tajul Islam ‘detained’
Tajul Islam, a top member of the defence team of war crimes accused Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, was allegedly picked up by law enforcers from his chamber in Dhaka this evening.
Another member of the defence team seeking anonymity said they have come to know from family and other sources that Paltan police picked him up from his chamber at Nayapaltan.
One more member of the counsel’s team said Tajul driver called his wife and said “sir was arrested” and the driver’s phone was disconnected.
“We cannot communicate with him (Tajul) or any others who were along with him at his chamber,” he told The Daily Star around 9:00pm.
Asked about the alleged arrest, Sub-Inspector Wahiduzzaman, duty officer of the Paltan Police Station, told The Daily Star around 9:30pm, “I have no such information.”
