Youth killed for protesting stalking

A youth was stabbed to death for protesting against the stalkers of his cousin in Baufal upazila of Patuakhali this morning.

Feroj Hawlader, 25, died on the spot when the alleged stalkers attacked him with sharp weapons at Laxmipasha village around 9:30am, our Patukhali correspondent reports quoting police.

Some local youths have been stalking his cousin, a class X student, for the last few months which he had protested against several times, said Rokonuzzaman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Baufal Police Station.

"A gang of four to five youths, wielding sharp weapons, went to his house in the morning and picked up a quarrel with him over the issue," the OC said.

"Sensing danger, Feroj started running to escape the attack but the stalkers managed to catch him at a nearby field and stabbed him indiscriminately," Rokonuzzaman added.

The stalkers used to harass his cousin on her way from home to school, family members alleged.

Police arrested Ripon, 20, and Khalil, 28, from the spot in connection with the murder.
