Khaleda prays for Koko at chehlum
BNP is holding the chehlum of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's younger son Arafat Rahman Koko at her Gulshan office in Dhaka this morning.
Six persons from the Badda Azizia Madrasa were allowed to enter the office around 11:00am after the Detective Branch of police checked their identities. The law enforcers also took photos and video footage of the group. The six will perform the chehlum rituals.
Recitation from the Holy Quran will go on throughout the day and a special milad mahfil and prayer will be held after Asr prayer at the office.
Khaleda will attend at the milad mahfil and the special prayer, said Samsuddin Didar, a staff of the BNP chairperson's media wing to The Daily Star.
The chehlum date also coincides with the date of Khaleda's court appearance before the special court at Bakshibazar in Dhaka. Khaleda did not go to the court on "security grounds," according to her lawyer Sanaullah Mia.
Koko died of a heart attack in Kuala Lumpur, on January 24.
