The housewife was identified as Alo Begum, 22, daughter of late Rafiq from Munshiganj, reports our local correspondent.
Police recovered the body from a rented house in Shantinagar area of the upazila today and detained the victim’s husband Jonny Mia, 28, for interrogation, said Sub-inspector (SI) Md Joshim of Siddhirganj Police Station.
Police also recovered a reel for flying kites, apparently with which the victim had been killed, and blood-stained clothes from the spot, he said.
“We are suspecting that she has been killed due to family feud early in the morning today. She had multiple injuries on her body. The body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy after which we would know the details,” the SI told The Daily Star.
Jonny has confessed to the crime in primary interrogation, said Abdus Sattar, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

“Alo and Jonny were married five years ago after Alo became an orphan. Jonny used to beat Alo often demanding dowry,” said Ador Hossain, maternal uncle of the victim.
“Recently Jonny demanded Tk 2 lakh and he has killed Alo as he did not get the money,” Ador alleged.
