2 factories fined for selling impure water
A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion today fined two factories for selling impure water to people after stealing water from the supply lines of Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa).
The mobile court of Rab-4 conducted a drive jointly with Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Wasa in different areas of Dhaka including Pallabi, Mirpur 2 and 10, reports our staff correspondent quoting Sarwoer Alam, executive magistrate of Rab.
The eight-hour long drive started at 8:00am and ended at 4:00pm, the executive magistrate said.
Actions were taken against a total of four factories during the drive. Those are: Nodi Food and Beverage and Tabassum Drinking Water in Kalshi area, Shonali Drinking Water in Mirpur 2, and Safe International Drinking Water in Mirpur 10.
Nodi Food and Beverage and Safe International Drinking Water were fined Tk 1 lakh and 2 lakh respectively, Sarwoer Alam said.
The factories of Nodi Food and Beverage, Tabassum Drinking Water and Shonali Drinking Water were also sealed, and 800 jars of unpurified water were seized and destroyed in the drive, he added.
