Bindu denies return rumours linked to Hoichoi series
Once a regular on television dramas, Ziaul Faruq Apurba and Afsan Ara Bindu won over audiences as a popular on-screen pair. Although the much-loved duo has not been seen together for a long time, recent rumours of their possible comeback have sparked fresh discussion. Speculation has been rife on social media, particularly over claims that Apurba and Bindu might reunite in a web series.
According to the buzz, the duo were expected to appear in “Headline”, an upcoming Hoichoi web series scripted by “Taqdeer” and “Karagar" fame director Syed Ahmed Shawki and it is to be directed by Saleh Sobhan Auneem. The political thriller reportedly had Apurba playing the role of a journalist.
However, these claims have been categorically denied by Hoichoi Bangladesh’s Country Director, Sakib R Khan. Speaking to Prothom Alo, he said, “Who actually started the news about Bindu’s return? Nothing has been confirmed yet. I am stating clearly that this is false news. There is no truth to it.” The producer’s statement makes it clear that no official decision has been taken regarding the much-talked-about comeback.
Bindu echoed the same sentiment when contacted. “I am not aware of any such news. There is nothing to comment on,” she said. When asked whether any discussions had taken place, Bindu added, “I have spoken to a few directors and received some story proposals. But I know nothing about the matter you mentioned.”
Among the notable dramas featuring Apurba and Bindu together were “Megh”, “Mineral Water" and "Bilombito Ticket". The pair were last seen together in 2016 in “Tritiyojon”, a drama based on a story by Bipasha Hayat and directed by Chayanika Chowdhury, which also starred Mahfuz Ahmed.
Bindu began her acting career through the Lux–Channel i Superstar competition and was once a regular presence in television dramas. After a long hiatus, she returned in Chorki-produced web film “Unish 20”, where she starred opposite Arifin Shuvoo.
