Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju elected chairman of Eastern University board

Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju has been elected chairman of the Eastern University Foundation and the Board of Trustees for 2026.

The decision was taken unanimously at the annual general meeting of the Foundation and the Board of Trustees, held at the university campus.

At the meeting, Engr Khandaker Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Liaquat Hossain Moghul and Sk Sayedur Rahman were elected vice-chairmen of the Eastern University Foundation for 2026. Md Ismail Zabihullah was elected treasurer.

The AGM was presided over by former chairman Md Maniruzzaman Molla. Members reviewed the university’s recent progress and stressed the need to strengthen research and development while maintaining internationally recognised standards of higher education.

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Farid A. Sobhani and other members of the Board of Trustees were present at the meeting.

Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju is a senior legal professional and is involved in a range of business and social initiatives. Under his leadership, Eastern University is expected to further consolidate its position among the country’s leading private universities.
