SSC exam on Boisabi!

Students of Chattogram Hill Tracts have demanded to reschedule the SSC exams that fall on the days of Boisabi festival, one of the main celebrations of the indigenous community.
Authorities on Thursday announced that Secondary School Certificate exams for 2025 rill start from April 10 and continue till May 8.
As per the exam schedule, students would have to sit for an exam on the day of Boisabi festival, a three day celebration which starts on April 12.
However, according to the exam routine, students will have to sit for Bangla second paper on April 13 and English first paper on April 15.
In a press release, Parbotto Chattogram Pahari Chhatro Parishad (PCP) yesterday urged the interim government to reschedule the examination schedule considering the importance of the festival.
"Indiginous communities of CHT celebrate these days in accordance with their religious and cultural practices. But, this exam routine will not permit them to do so. Therefore, this routine must be revised," said the release.
Besides revising the exam routine, the students also demanded to declare the days of Boishabi celebration as government holidays.
Indigenous people belonging to different ethnic groups bid farewell to the previous year and welcome the New Year with colourful celebrations on the last two days of Chaitra, the last month of the Bengali calendar, and the first day of Boishakh, the Bengali New Year.
The name Boisabi comes from the first few letters of three vernacular words: Boisukh (Tripura tribe's New Year), Shangail (Marma tribe's New Year), and Biju (Chakma tribe's New Year).
