Jamaat to hold nat'l rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on July 19

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to hold a national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on July 19 to press home its seven-point demand.

The demands include trial of all mass killings and necessary fundamental reforms, Jamaat said in a release last night.

It also demands the implementation of the July Charter and July Declaration, as well as the rehabilitation of the families of those killed and injured in the July uprising.

Jamaat further seeks the holding of national elections under the proportional representation (PR) system, arrangements for expatriates to cast their votes, and the creation of a level playing field.
