AL, BNP rallies: Won't give permission if there aren't enough law enforcers available

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner today said they would give permission to BNP and Awami League to hold rally if there are enough force members after ensuring security to the programme of upcoming Ashura and VIP movements.

"Otherwise, we won't give permission to hold the rallies," DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq told The Daily Star.

Earlier, replying to a query during a briefing at his office, the city police chief said law enforcers were not resorting to mass arrests.

Those who are accused in different cases are being nabbed, he said.
