US embassy issues alert over Gaza protests in Dhaka
The US embassy has issued a demonstration alert for US citizens, after several protest marches were held at different locations near the US Embassy in Dhaka today condemning Israel's brutal attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In a statement today, the US embassy said "University students intend to protest and converge into central mass demonstrations in Dhaka and across the country in response to the conflict in Gaza. Due to potential increased traffic and intended protest movement to the embassy, the US Embassy will limit afternoon public services on April 7, 2025."

The embassy advised US citizens to practice vigilance and remember that demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence.
"You should avoid demonstrations and exercise caution in the vicinity of any large gatherings. Review personal security plans; remain aware of your surroundings, including local events; and monitor local news stations for updates," it said.
The US embassy suggested avoiding the area where demonstrations might take place, monitoring local media for updates, avoiding crowds, and always carrying a charged mobile phone for emergency communications.
