SUST lifts ban on student politics, with restrictions in place

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has lifted its long-standing ban on student politics, though restrictions remain on certain activities within the campus.

According to circular signed by Deputy Registrar AFM Miftaul Haque, the ban was suspended following unanimous recommendations made during a meeting between the proctorial committee and representatives of all student organisations.

All political activities must now be approved by the office of the proctor. However, rallies, processions, or assemblies inside academic and administrative buildings, as well as halls, will remain prohibited. The circular said activities related to the Shahjalal University Central Students' Union polls, such as forming election panels and introducing candidates, may be organised with prior permission from the administration.
