Soil trader hacked to death in Gazipur, 2 detained

A soil trader was hacked to death by two robbers in Kaliakair, Gazipur, police said.
The deceased, Sajib Hossain, 38, had a soil supply business in that area.
Locals chased and detained the two robbers, beat them up, and handed them over to the police.
The incident took place yesterday night in the Haturia Chala area of Jamalpur union.
Early today, Kaliakair Police Station Duty Officer Polly Akhter said the deceased would be sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
According to locals and police, Sajib Hossain, along with another soil trader, Royal Mia, were on a motorcycle on their way to Haturia Chala Bazar from Jamalpur when armed robbers stopped their vehicle. At one point Sajib and Royal abandoned the motorcycle and fled, but were stabbed indiscriminately, resulting in Sajib's death on the spot.
Locals rushed to the scene hearing the screams of Royal Mia, who had run away, injured.
Later, police arrived on the scene and detained the two robbers in injured condition. One of the detained has been admitted to Safipur Modern Hospital, while the other has been admitted to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex.
Kaliakair Police Station cfficer-in-charge (OC) Riyad Mahmud said, "Legal action will be taken in this matter subject to investigation."
