Prof Sabrina Flora on life support following surgery in Singapore
Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director general (Planning and Development) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has been put on life support at a Singapore hospital since last night after surgery there.
Prof Ahmedul Kabir, DGHS ADG (Administration) confirmed the matter to The Daily Star this (August 21, 2022) evening.
"She had abdominal pain and mild jaundice, for further evaluation she underwent Endoscopic Retrograde cholangio pancreatography (ERCP). But she developed post ERCP pancreatitis. For better support she has been shifted to the ICU," said Prof Ahmedul.
ERCP is a technique that combines the use of endoscopy and fluoroscopy to diagnose and treat certain problems of the biliary or pancreatic ductal systems.
The health directorate authority organised a Doa Mahfil at the DGHS headquarters mosque this noon for her recovery.
Flora has been under treatment at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore for more than a week. Before that, she was admitted to Dhaka's United Hospital.
