February 25 declared 'Army Martyrs Day' to honour BDR carnage victims

The Government of Bangladesh has officially designated February 25 as "Army Martyrs Day" to commemorate the army officers killed in the 2009 BDR mutiny.
In a recent decision, the Cabinet Division announced that the day would be observed as a 'Category C' national day, in accordance with its October 21, 2024 circular outlining the observance of national and international days.
All concerned ministries, departments, and relevant organisations have been instructed to comply with the new directive.
A total of 74 people, including 57 army officials, were killed at BDR's Pilkhana headquarters on February 25-26, 2009.
