Efforts underway to free Shahidul Alam with Turkish support

Efforts are underway to secure the release of acclaimed Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam, who was detained by Israeli forces, with assistance from Türkiye.

The Turkish authorities have expressed hope that he may be flown to Ankara today on a special aircraft, although they have not provided full confirmation, according to a post on the chief adviser's verified Facebook page.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Türkiye, M Amanul Haq, shared this information last night, it said.

Shahidul, fellow prisoners taken to prison in Israe'ls Negev Desert

Following Shahidul Alam's detention by Israeli authorities, Bangladesh embassies in Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey were instructed to urgently engage with the foreign ministries of those countries to facilitate his release.

The embassies are maintaining continuous contact with local authorities regarding his release, it also said.
