Chhatra Dal proposes nine new posts in Jnucsu constitution amendment
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has proposed adding nine new secretarial posts to the Jagannath University Central Students' Union (Jnucsu) in a bid to make the body "more effective and time-befitting".
The organisation today submitted a written proposal to the university registrar, seeking amendments to the Jnucsu constitution.
The proposed posts include secretaries for health affairs, students with special needs, media and communications, cultural affairs, skills development, law and human rights, science and technology, environment, Liberation War and democratic movements.
JCD also recommended abolishing the finance secretary post, keeping only the treasurer position to avoid duplication and organisational conflict.
The student body further demanded a clear policy on the participation of MPhil and PhD students in Jnucsu polls, particularly for those whose studies were disrupted due to political circumstances.
Mehedi Hasan Himel, convener of Jagannath University JCD, confirmed that new proposals and recommendations have been placed for Jnucsu.
Prof Md Rais Uddin, general secretary of JnU Teachers' Association and member of the Jnucsu policy and amendment committee, said, "If this proposal is placed in the committee's meeting, it will be considered."
