Case against Iresh 'deeply troubling, deeply disturbing': Farooki

Making actor Iresh Zaker an accused in a murder case is "deeply troubling, deeply disturbing," said Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki.
"I personally know Iresh Zaker. He was involved with the July movement. The state did not file the case; someone else did it. In the new Bangladesh, everyone has the right to file cases. Some are also abusing this freedom," he said while talking to reporters at his office at the Secretariat today.
He added, "I believe police will conduct a proper investigation. They will uphold the truth, and will dismiss it (the allegation) if false."
The case was filed against Iresh and 407 others, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, with allegations of killing BNP activist Mahfuz Alam Shraban in the capital's Mirpur during the mass uprising.
