CA gives directive on vehicle procurement, construction projects for police

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus gave a directive on five key demands, including the procurement of police vehicles and allocation of funds for police stations, urging immediate action today.
The directive came during a meeting with the Home Adviser and police officials, following demands raised by police officers during a meeting on Monday.
In today's meeting, the chief adviser emphasised the need for swift measures to ensure the welfare of police officers at the grassroots level.
Earlier on Monday, the chief adviser held a special meeting with senior police officers to discuss issues pertaining to law and order. The meeting was attended by 127 officers, including superintendents of police, at the chief adviser's office in Tejgaon.
According to the CA press release, the chief adviser instructed authorities to consider reviewing the existing ceiling on risk allowance, initiating the procurement of 364 new pickup trucks and 140 prisoner vans for police use, allocating funds for ongoing police construction projects that are less than 70 percent complete, releasing funds for land acquisition of 65 police stations currently operating in rented buildings, and considering interest-free loans for purchasing motorcycles for SI and ASI rank officers.
Ensuring a peaceful election was another key focus, with the Chief Adviser directing immediate initiatives to strengthen police preparedness for the upcoming polls.
He also underscored the importance of categorising district police units based on performance results and taking steps to enhance the efficiency of lower-performing units.
