Workers of different factories at Beximco Industrial Park today formed a human chain demanding reopening of all factories within the industrial complex.

Carrying placards with messages such as "Open all factories" and "Let 40,000 families survive," the workers began their demonstration at 9:00am.

The human chain was formed in front of the factory near the Kaliakair Chakraborty bus stand on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

Participants in the protest emphasised the severe impact of the factory closures on their livelihoods.

One of the demonstrators said, "We call upon the officials, employees, and stakeholders of Beximco Industrial Park, along with the general public, to support our demand. The closure affects 40,000 families who depend on these jobs. We urge the reopening of all factories, the resumption of the banking system (including the opening of back-to-back LCs), and the settlement of pending dues to protect our employment and secure our families' future."

Md Abu Taleb, assistant superintendent of the Gazipur Industrial Police, confirmed the situation remains peaceful.

"The workers have formed the human chain since morning, and there have been no untoward incidents. Traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail highway is normal," he said.

The industrial police have increased their vigilance around the factory area to ensure the safety and security of all involved.

Despite efforts, the authorities of Beximco could not be reached for comment as they did not respond to phone calls.
