8 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport

Customs officials at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet today seized eight gold bars, weighing around 933 grammes, from an abandoned bag on a flight from Dubai.
On information, a team of the Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate in Sylhet conducted a search on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-248 upon its arrival at noon and recovered the gold bars, each weighing around 116-117 grammes, from an unclaimed bag.
Confirming the matter, Injamam Ul Hoque, assistant commissioner of the commissionerate at the airport, said legal procedures are underway in connection with the seizure.
