Rashedul Islam, one of the student coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement from Rajshahi University in July, has been appointed as its inquiry and information officer at the public relations office.

An order was signed by RU Registrar Iftikharul Alam Masud in this regard.

The order states, "Rashedul Islam has been appointed on an ad-hoc basis for six months as an Inquiry and Information Officer at the Public Relations Office of Rajshahi University with a monthly salary of Tk 23,100/- in the pay scale of Tk 22,000-53,060/-.

"This appointment will be effective from the date of joining."

Rashedul Islam, graduated from the Urdu Department of Rajshahi University in 2019, securing a CGPA of 2.778 in his Bachelor's (honours) final examination.

In 2020, he completed his Master's from the same department with a CGPA of 3.07.

Vice-Chancellor Saleh Hasan Nakib said, "In Rashed's case, I prioritised his communication skills over his academic results… Many people think he was given priority in the appointment because of his role in the movement, but that is not the case. He was appointed to this position purely based on his qualifications."
