HSC results: 43 colleges in Rangpur division see zero pass rate
The pass rate in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams under the Dinajpur Education Board in Rangpur division has witnessed a drastic fall.
The overall pass rate dropped to 57.49 percent, compared to 77.56 percent last year.
Not a single student passed from 43 colleges across the eight districts of Rangpur division under the Dinajpur Education Board this year. Last year, the number of such colleges was 20.
Of the 666 colleges under the board, these 43 colleges had 182 HSC candidates, all of whom failed. Only 11 colleges achieved a 100 percent pass rate this year, according to Professor Mir Sajjad Ali, examination controller of the Dinajpur Education Board.
He said a total of 1,58,051 students took part in this year's HSC exams under the board, of whom 60,882 students passed. The pass rate among male students stood at 52.65 percent, while that of female students was 61.92 percent.
Among the eight districts, Rangpur has four colleges with no passes, Nilphamari 10, Kurigram nine, Thakurgaon six, Lalmonirhat five, Dinajpur four, Panchagarh three, and Gaibandha two.
The results of the HSC and equivalent examinations were officially published at 10:00am today, with all general, madrasa, and technical education boards releasing their outcomes simultaneously.
Nationwide, the average pass rate in this year's HSC and equivalent exams stands at 58.83 percent, showing an 18.95 percentage point decrease from last year's 77.78 percent. A total of 69,097 students achieved GPA-5 this year, compared to 1,45,911 last year.
