Woman's body recovered from staff quarters of RHD in Lakshmipur

The dismembered body of a woman was found inside the staff quarters of the Roads and Highways Department in Lakshmipur last night.

The deceased was identified as Momtaj Begum, wife of late Abdul Matin, a former employee of the department.

Police and neighbours said Momtaj lived in the quarters with her two sons -- Shariful Islam Bappi and Saiful Islam Rocky -- since her husband died, report our local correspondent.

After returning home around 11:30pm yesterday, Bappi found his mother's dismembered body and informed police who recovered it and sent to District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Mosleh Uddin, officer-in-charge of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station.

Police suspected Rocky for the killing as he has been missing and his phone was switched off since the incident, the OC said, adding they are investigating the murder.
