Wife, lover, associate to die for murdering husband in Sylhet

A Sylhet court today sentenced a woman, her lover and their associate to death for killing a man in Jaflong in Sylhet's Gowainghat upazila last year.

The deceased was the husband of the woman convicted of murder.

Shaila Sharmin, judge of Sylhet Additional District and Session Judge Court-4, pronounced the sentence in a crowded courtroom this morning, Advocate Md Jalal Uddin, additional public prosecutor, confirmed.

The convicts are Khusnahar, 22, wife of slain Al Imran of Guroi in Kishorganj's Nikli upazila, her lover Mahmudul Hasan, 22, and their associate Nadim Ahmed Nayeem, 19.

According to the case statement, Al Imran and his wife came on a trip to Jaflong on April 15 last year and the next day, Imran's dead body was found in a drain near a hotel in Jaflong while his wife wife went missing.

Imran's father filed a case with Gowainghat Police Station the next day. After investigating, police confirmed that his wife, her lover and other associates murdered Imran by strangling him after feeding sleeping pills.

Later police detained four people including the wife in connection with the murder.

Prosecutor Md Jalal Uddin said that the three accused were present at the court during the verdict and another accused, who is a minor, is being tried as a juvenile.
