Son arrested on charge of stabbing mother in Habiganj

A 32-year-old man was arrested after stabbing her mother in Nabiganj Upazila of Habiganj last night, police said.

The arrested is identified as Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury.

The injured, Rahena Begum, 60, is undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

According to local sources and police, Tanvir attacked his mother with a knife around 9:00pm at their house in Shantipara on Hospital Road, where Rahena is living with her son.

The motive behind the attack could not be known immediately.

Rahena was taken to local upazila health complex where doctors referred her to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nabiganj Police Station, said, "Upon receiving reports of the incident, we apprehended Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury and seized the knife used in the attack. The investigation is ongoing."
