A Dhaka court today placed former head of news at Ekattor Television Shakil Ahmed and its principal correspondent Farzana Rupa on a five-day remand in a case filed over the death of Anowar Hossain Patwari in Mirpur during the mass uprising on August 5 last year.

With this, the journalist couple were put on total 14 days of remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq today passed the orders after the two were produced before the court with a five-day remand prayer in the case, said a court staffer.

On November 6 last year, Al-Amin Patwari, father of the victim, filed the murder case with Mirpur Model Police Station against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 149 others.

On August 21 last year, Shakil and Rupa were arrested at Dhaka airport.

The next day, they were placed on a four-day remand in the case filed with the Uttara East Police Station over the death of one Fazlul Karim.

On August 26 last year, they were put on a five-day remand in the case filed with Adabor Police Station over the death of a garment worker Rubel.
