Sacred cloths set on fire at Ctg Buddhist temple; one arrested
A man was arrested yesterday for allegedly setting fire to cloths offered during the Kathin Chibar Dan ceremony at a Buddhist temple in Boalkhali upazila, Chattogram.
The incident occurred at Jaisthapura Mahabodhi Temple, near Golakkanun Bazar under Sripur-Kharandwip union, between 4:00am and 5:00am on Monday.
The arrestee, Abdur Rahim, 28, is a resident of Sandwip Para under the same union, said Boalkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Lutfur Rahman.
"Locals and temple staff detained Rahim and handed him over to law enforcement for further legal action," the OC added.
A case was later filed on behalf of the temple authorities against Rahim, he said.
"An investigation will now be conducted, and necessary action will be taken," the OC added.
