Man shot dead in Narsingdi

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Narsingdi's Sadar upazila late last night.
The deceased was identified as Humayun Kabir, said Mohammad Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station.
"According to witnesses, Humayun was attacked at Panchdona around 11:15pm when he was playing badminton in his neighbourhood. The murder might have stemmed from prior enmity," the OC said, adding that there are several cases against him on various charges including narcotics.
"We started investigation to uncover the motive and arrest the culprits," the OC added.
Immediately after the incident, locals rushed him to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him "brought dead".
Mahmudul Kabir Bashar, hospital's Resident Medical Officer (RMO), said, "He was brought in with gunshot wounds. He died due to excessive blood loss. The body will be handed over to the family after an autopsy."
Locals said Humayun was a BNP supporter, though police are yet to confirm if political motives played a role.
No formal complaints have been lodged by the victim's family as of filing the report this morning.
