Journalist stabbed in Narail

Somoy TV's Narail district correspondent Syed Sajibur Rahman Sajib was stabbed by unidentified assailants Monday night.
The incident took place on the Sheikh Russell Bridge when Sajib was returning to Narail on his motorcycle around 11:30pm, said Narail Sadar Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Md Sajedul Islam.
The attackers stabbed his abdomen, legs, and hands and then fled, he added.
Locals and police took him to Narail Sadar Hospital, he added.
According to Narail Sadar Hospital's emergency department, Sajib's condition is critical as his abdominal injuries are severe. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
While speaking briefly before his transfer, Sajib said, "I was on my way to Narail from Lohagara. When I reached Sheikh Russell Bridge, unknown criminals attacked me with sharp weapons, wounding my abdomen, legs, and hands. They fled immediately after the attack."
Local journalists issued a statement denouncing the attack and demanding the quick arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
OC Sajedul said that they launched an investigation, and efforts are underway to identify and nab the culprits.
